CAPE ELIZABETH — Former Town Councilor Mary Ann Lynch launched a campaign for election to the Legislature.

Lynch, former government and media counsel for Maine’s Administrative Office of the Courts, is running as a Democrat in House District 30, which covers most of Cape Elizabeth.

She and Anne Carney, former president of the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, will compete in the June 12 primary for the seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. Kim Monaghan, who is termed out. So far, no Republicans or other candidates have declared.

A resident of Cape Elizabeth for 34 years, Lynch served three terms on the Town Council from 2001-2008. She also previously served on the Thomas Memorial Library board of trustees, the Richards Pool Renovation Committee, and the High School renovation and kindergarten wing committee.
