FALMOUTH — Replacement of the Lunt Road bridge over Interstate 295 is scheduled to begin soon.

The Maine Department of  Transportation said equipment and temporary workspace is already being put into place in preparation for the project.

Lane closures will begin in early March 2019, MDOT said in a press release. In addition, a traffic signal will be installed on the bridge to accommodate alternating traffic, because the bridge will be reduced to one lane during construction.

New traffic signals will also be installed at the Interstate 295 northbound ramp and at the Bucknam and Legion Road intersection.

Both lanes of the bridge are expected to be open by August 2019 and the entire project is expected to be completed by November 2019.
