PORTLAND — Louise “Weezy” Jean Gallagher Cavallaro, 72, died June 18 in Portland.

Cavallaro was born in Portland on Oct. 21, 1939, a daughter of Walter Francis Gallagher and Dorothy Scott Gallagher.

She spent her childhood on Munjoy Hill, attending local schools and graduating from Portland High School in 1957. She married Anthony C. Cavallaro on June 23, 1962 and they were married nearly 50 years.

Cavallaro worked for over 30 years at New England Telephone as a line assigner, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed traveling and for several years she and her husband spent winters at their home in The Villages, Florida. Cavallaro spent many hours researching her family history and studying genealogy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Italian Heritage Center and the Eagles.

Cavallaro is survived by her husband, Anthony Cavallaro; her sons, Anthony Cavallaro Jr.  and his wife, Nancy, Daniel Cavallaro and his wife, Elizabeth, Rocco Cavallaro and his wife, Vanessa, all of Portland;  daughter Karen Ingraham and her husband, David Ingraham Sr. of Windham; and grandchildren, David Ingraham Jr., Anthony Cavallaro III, Victoria Cavallaro, Megan Wayne, Santino Cavallaro, Vincent Cavallaro, Christin Scott and John Scott, many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Donald F. Gallagher.

A funeral was held June 22 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Portland.  Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
