PORTLAND — Louis Coleman Concannon, 89, died May 3 at Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Portland on Feb. 12, 1923, to Coleman and Delia Concannon. Concannon grew up in Portland, attended local schools and graduated from Cheverus High School.
Concannon served in WWII in the signal corp in the Asian theater of operations. After returning home, he enjoyed a career as a carpenter. He was a member of the Harold. T. Andrews American Legion Post #17 in Portland, the Irish-American Club of Portland and the Portland Boys Club. He enjoyed cooking and frequently shared his dishes with the people of 100 State Street. He loved to play golf and was a former member of Riverside Golf Course.
In addition to his parents, Concannon was predeceased by a brother, William Concannon, and sister, Anne Cloutier.
He is survived by a brother, Michael Concannon of Bath; sisters Julia Cichosz and Mary Keany of Portland; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were held May 8 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home in Portland. Prayers will be recited May 9 at 9:15 a.m. on May 9 at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
