FALMOUTH — Family Ice Center has elected a new president to replace a longtime director who has stepped down from the role.

Falmouth resident Godfrey Wood will replace Peter Wellin of South Portland, a founding member of the board who has served as president for 15 years of the nonprofit, year-round skating center on Hat Trick Drive.

Wellin is stepping down because he “will be spending more time in California” but he will remain on the board, according to a press release. Wood, in the announcement, described Wellin as a “visionary leader” whose “fingerprints are all over this magnificent community resource.”

Wood, who is married to Karen Wood, publisher of The Forecaster, is executive director of Habitat of Humanity of Greater Portland. Other Family Ice officers are Vice President Ken Filliter of Yarmouth, Executive Vice President Dana Twombly of Falmouth, and Treasurer Gerry Nadeau of Portland.
