PORTLAND — Nat May, executive director of Space Gallery at 538 Congress St., is resigning, effective Nov. 18.
May’s departure was announced in an Oct. 14 press release. He has directed programming, events and studio rentals for 13 years, and said he is leaving to focus on Hewnoaks Artist Colony and Common Field, which he helped found.
“I’m proud of my work with SPACE and happy to have developed so many relationships through this work. SPACE has been my home for so many years and I’m happy to be leaving it in good hands,” May said.
Space Chairwoman Yemana St. Clair said an interim director will be appointed, followed by a search committee to find a new permanent director.
