BRUNSWICK — Lois Metzler Mundy, 82, died May 27 at Mid Coast Senior Health Center.

On April 9, 1928, she was born in Somerville, N.J., the daughter of Harold and Helen Ridge Metzler, and attended local schools.

She graduated from Douglass College in New Brunswick, N.J., with a bachelor’s degree in English.

On March 10, 1951, she married David H. Mundy Sr., and was an Air Force mother until 1966, when she began her career as an English teacher at Indian High School, Oakland, N.J., until she retired in 1996.

She and her husband enjoyed coming to Maine every summer since the mid-1960s to stay at their camp in Palermo on Sheepscot Pond.

They moved to Brunswick in 2000.

An active member of First Parish Church in Brunswick, she participated in many church activities and especially enjoyed reading with the church book club.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2005.
 
Surviving are her two sons, David H. Mundy Jr., of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Donald H. Mundy and his wife Denise of Westerville, Ohio; and a grandson, Peter S. Mundy  of Westerville, Ohio.

Memorial services were held June 1.
