Brunswick senior running standout Will Geoghegan capped his dynamite season last weekend with a third-place finish at the New England championships in Manchester, Conn.

Geoghegan completed the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 13 seconds, to post the best time of all Maine runners. Geoghegan was coming off an individual Class A title.

Geoghegan was joined by Morse senior Jason Kaake, who finished with the 20th-best time (16:46). Brunswick’s Liam Cassidy qualified to compete, but fell ill and wasn’t able to run.

On the girls’ side, Brunswick’s Kathleen McMahon finished 47th (20:13). Mt. Ararat’s Kate Spies was 51st (20:19).
