Qasim Abdullah of the Portland/South Portland co-op team gets the better of Sanford’s Alex Kirven in a 17-3 victory during Saturday’s Class A state wrestling match. Abdullah wound up third in the 126 pound weight class, teammate Zack Elowitch was runner-up at 152 pounds and Anthony Napolitano came in fourth at 106 pounds to help Portland/South Portland place 11th as a team (Marshwood was first). Cheverus, which got a runner-up performance from Zeb Leavitt in the heavyweight division and a fourth-place finish from Teigan Lindstedt at 170 pounds, placed 13th, Scarborough, which got a third-place showing from Jeremy Sendrowski at 145 pounds, was 16th, while Deering finished 22nd.
