The Maine Swim League coaches recently honored several local athletes and coaches for their performance in the 2009-10 season.

The girls’ all-state team included Jessica Russell of Brunswick (100 backstroke champion and runner-up in the 200 free at the Class A state meet), Morse’s Emily Buczkowski (50 and 100 free state champ) and Mt. Ararat’s Celia Ouellette (runner-up in the 50 free and the backstroke).

Brunswick’s Kayla Purinton was named the Class A girls’ Diver of the Year. She was runner-up at states.

The boys’ all-state team featured Hyde’s Won Ho Chang and Morse standout James Wells, who set a new state record in the winning the backstroke and was runner-up in the 200 individual medley at the state meet. Wells was also chosen as the Class A boys’ Swimmer of the Year.

Morse’s Todd Marco was named the Class A girls’ Coach of the Year.
