The Portland Phoenix USL Super Y League first-year soccer entry, featuring players from Forecaster Country, has qualified both its U-15 and U-17 boys’ teams for the national finals in Florida in November. It’s the first time any team from Maine has qualified. U-17 qualified as group winners with a game to spare, recording seven wins and a tie. The U-15s did things the hard way, recovering from one win in their first four games, to go the remainder of the season unbeaten and finish with a 6-2-4 record.
