Several local Nordic skiers took part on the Maine team at the recent Eastern High School Championships held at Black Mountain. in Rumford. The Maine Team finished third, competing against top skiers from Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York. Freeport’s Lily Johnston came in 22th, Elizabeth Martin was 24th and Jasmine Olins came in 92nd. Merriconeag placed Samantha Pierce 27th and Fiona Ahearne 35th. For Yarmouth, Emma Torres came in 48th and Grace Cowles finished 51st. Falmouth’s London Bernier came in 67th, while teammate Anna Morin placed 76th. Independent skiers Hadley Moreau (12th) and Gabby Farrell (47th) also took part. On the boys’ side, Falmouth’s Gabe Mahoney was 17th. Teammates Sam Pratico (70th), Iain Kurry (79th), Ethan Cantlin (84th), Devin Ventura (89th) and Simon Pratico (98th) also took part. Yarmouth’s John Lane came in 43rd. Merriconeag’s Forrest McCurdy placed 19th, while Bennett Hight was 81st.
