Several local standout girls’ lacrosse players represented the Mainein the U.S. women’s national tournament over Memorial Day weekend at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn. The tournament is one of the top recruiting events in the nation, with over 1,400 student-athletes from 31 states competing. Maine defeated Utah/Idaho and California, lost one goal decisions to a team from Philadelphia and another from New Hampshire/Vermont and also lost to Ohio.

The Maine team featured Cape Elizabeth’s Abby McInerney, Hannah Newhall and Liz Robinson, Cheverus’ Alex Logan, Nicole Pineau and Meredith Willard, Freeport’s Molly Lane, Greely’s Teal Otley, Waynflete’s Cat Johnson and Yarmouth’s Jordan Brown and Grace O’Donnell. Also on the roster were Gorham’s Meghan Cushing, Morgan Cushing and Rozada Spiers, Kennebunk’s Alison Truman, Kents Hill’s Sara Grenier, Marshwood’s Lindsey Poirier, Wells’ Nicole Moody and York’s Courtney Cole. The team was coached by Cheverus’ Jamie Chamberlain and Marshwood’s Bernie Marvin and the team coordinator was Waynflete’s Cathie Connors.
