The Blue Wave girls’ 8th grade basketball team went 6-0 and won the Zero Gravity national tournament in Boston June 13-14, beating the Lady Spartans of N.H., 61-43, in the final. It was the first national event for the Blue Wave program, which started in May, 2011.
The team, which was coached by Shawn Legassey, includes Yarmouth’s Sara D’Appolonia and Jessica Kirk, Falmouth’s Shannon Birks, Portland’s Madison Legassey, South Portland’s Sarah Boles, Abby Cavallaro and Meghan Graff, Boothbay’s Page Brown, Saco’s Addy Paradis, Gorham’s Michelle Rowe and Gray-New Gloucester’s Brianna Jordan.
