BATH — Lloyd A. Kaler, 95, of Cummings Street, died Jan. 28, 2016 at Winship Green Nursing Home in Bath.

He was born in Portland April 17, 1920, a son of John and Elizabeth (Prout) Kaler.

Kaler graduated from Portland High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed at Hyde Windless in Bath and Bath Iron Works, retiring as a machinist. On July 3, 1968, he married Cora A. Shand.

He enjoyed volunteering and helping others. Kaler was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bath, the Odd Fellows, the American Legion in Bath and was very active in the soup kitchen at the Bath Area Food Bank.

He was predeceased by one son, Bob Lewis, and two daughters, Lynn Theriault and Florence Ward.

Kaler is survived by his wife, of Bath; one son, John Kaler, of Bath; one daughter, Linda Kennedy, of Brooks; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be at a later date at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Soup Kitchen, Bath Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 65, Bath, ME 04530.
