The Yarmouth schools are going through an extended period of intense enrollment growth, and the student body is now 20 percent larger than 10 years ago. This has put enormous stress on our facilities, which are now seriously stressed, and all evidence points to this trend continuing into the foreseeable future.

Each of our buildings needs increased learning space. Part 1 of the upcoming referendum vote addresses the needs of Yarmouth High School and Yarmouth Elementary School, while Part 2 focuses on Yarmouth Middle School and Rowe Elementary.

The School Committee’s recommendations were made after two years of painstaking review, analysis and evaluation of all options. The overwhelming consensus was that the current plan best meets our needs.

Painful choices were made, and many wonderful but unnecessary improvements jettisoned. What remains is strictly needed. We strongly recommend that you vote yes on both referendum questions.
