Thank you for covering the proposed development on East Main Street in Yarmouth. This would be a significant change to my neighborhood, and it sets a precedent for other areas in town to be affected by the new zoning codes. Residents deserve information about this issue and how it will have an impact on their properties and quality of life.

I appreciate The Forecaster’s attention to this development and hope you will continue to follow this story. In the future, it might be helpful to give a more balanced viewpoint, beyond just those of the real estate developer and the town planner.

As a resident of the neighborhood, I disagree with Ms. Farr’s assertion that “the area where the project is, is in transition.” The reality is that my neighbors and I live in a well-established, affordable, quiet residential neighborhood of single-family homes. Apart from three home-based child-care businesses and Estabrook’s, there are no commercial or mixed-use, multi-unit buildings among our families’ homes.

Please continue to follow this story and perhaps expand upon your coverage. This change is potentially the beginning of a more significant one that will affect Yarmouth on a large scale.
