As members of Yarmouth’s Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee, my colleagues and I work with town departments and civic organizations that are implementing components of the 2010 Comprehensive Plan. I was tasked to check in with our public safety officials. Both Chief Robitaille and Chief Morrill couldn’t have been more accommodating while discussing their priorities and ideas for the future. While explaining their requirements for additional space and facilities, I was impressed with their ability to look beyond the needs of their own departments. They recognize that other organizations share this issue, and that the best use of town resources will create a best fit for everyone, not just fire and police.

As someone who enjoys volunteer work, public servants like these two men that prioritize collaboration make this easy and fun. This type of “can-do” and community spirit can be found in every part of our town and will be on full display at “Celebrate Yarmouth!” on May 17 at the YHS cafeteria from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Please join us to learn more about a variety of projects and how together we move from dreaming to doing.
