As we talk about the upcoming election, one theme comes up over and over again. We have heard many people insist that we have to stop spending so much money.

We’re writing to encourage District 11 voters to support Dick Woodbury for state Senate because we share this concern. Much has been written already, but we would like to point out one significant fact that we have not seen mentioned.

In his time as a state representative, Dick Woodbury chaired the committee that created Maine’s first spending limits for all levels of government. Many people can identify problems; it takes a respected leader to create solutions and to guide a bipartisan legislative committee to a workable fix, in this case, a response to the issue of greatest concern to voters at the time.

If you are concerned about government spending and the health of our Maine economy, please join us in voting for Dick Woodbury on Nov. 2. In doing so, you will be choosing a candidate who is independent of party allegiances and capable of bringing together the best thinking from both sides of the aisle to lead us toward a prosperous future.
