As the campaigns for Maine’s governor heat up for the summer, it strikes me as unusual that only one of the three candidates wish to have timely public debates on the issues. Two of the candidates say they think fall might be the right time. There are five months before we must decide which candidate would make the best leader. Back in the 2010 campaign, a LePage spokesman said “… (LePage) agreed to at least 20 debates beginning in September (2010).” Let’s see, how did that work out? Eliot Cutler is willing to share his position on the issues directly with us now. Why won’t the other two?
