As the reports of celebrities and politicians perpetrating sexual misconduct continue to grab headlines at a dizzying pace, I feel hopeful that we are edging closer to equal footing and safety for women in particular. If I let myself dream, I can even hope that some increment of justice is being exacted. However, I am struck by the notable absence of sports figures from any of these stories.

We are all well aware of past cases where our sports heroes were essentially given a pass from serious recriminations due to their athletic ability (Kobe Bryant, Ben Roethlisberger, etc.). Should these celebrities be left out of our current national dialogue just because they are good athletes?

Perhaps the only advice to give to the likes of Al Franken, Charlie Rose, Roy Moore, Harvey Weinstein, et al, as they seek to rebuild their images and careers is: work on your jump shot.
