These are charged political times, getting more so every week, for big stakes. As a survivor of sexual assault, I have watched the proceedings in Washington with bated breath. I have watched the ugliness involving both parties, and my heart breaks for our country. This shows me that the two-party system is not healthy.

When I hear women insist that we vote for other women, simply because they are female and of a certain party, I am discouraged. When did we stop thinking for ourselves? When did examining a candidate’s skill set, outlook and behavior become less important than their gender (or race)?

I am voting for independent Dennis Welsh in House District 47 because he is the answer to partisan politics. He will decide each issue based on its merits and the input from his constituents. He is reasoned and fair. I hope you will join me in putting Dennis in the state House.
