I was quite shocked to read about Byron Watson’s ridiculously unprofessional e-mail to Speaker Hannah Pingree and his disrespectful comments about our legislative delegation. I understand that he may be upset with the state’s proposed cut in school funding – we all are – but his actions are far from helpful.

Rather than personally demean our delegation, he should have tried to work with them. I have interacted with our Brunswick legislators on numerous occasions and have found them helpful, intelligent and reasonable. Sen. Gerzofsky and Reps. Priest, Cornell du Houx and Kent put in long hours trying to find the best way to avoid punishing cuts to education and programs that help all Brunswick citizens. Perhaps Watson should spend some time learning how to be effective in his role instead of making insulting comments about our hard-working legislators.
