I wholeheartedly support the referendum to pay for half the cost of bringing the Falmouth Memorial Library into the 21st century.

For years, library trustees have documented the need to expand. Study after study has investigated how much space is needed, how to address the mildew and water contaminating the basement, how to enlarge community spaces so children’s story hours aren’t so crowded, and so on.

Other locations have been tested, but it is clear the community wants to keep our library where it is. Now the library has a design that cleans up the problems, is energy-efficient, and cleverly uses space. The design is so attractive the library will be an architectural icon in Falmouth.

The trustees have listened to us. Now it’s time for us to support them.

Join me in voting yes on Question 1.
