It is an honor and pleasure to write supporting Democrat Joyce “Jay” McCreight for state representative in District 51.

I have been a resident of Orr’s Island, Harpswell, for over 12 years. During eight of those years I ran a small business in South Portland and Brunswick, which gives me a particular perspective on issues regarding Maine’s economic direction and growth and the role our Legislature can play in its future.

Jay is an unusual politician. She has the unique ability to be a careful and focused listener. Her background in social work provides a firm foundation for these skills, then to take competent, studied action based on what she has heard. She has demonstrated this by her support of women’s issues both in health care and in equal rights. She is a tireless volunteer for the community. She will bring strong organizational skills to this key position while remaining the fair, unbiased and dedicated person she is.
