Ginny Ketch is correct when she says we owe a lot to state Sen. Amy Volk, R-Scarborough, for fighting for victims of sex trafficking (“Volk deserves re-election to state Senate,” July 11, 2016).
However, Volk sponsored that bill three years ago. Before, and since, she has allied herself with the obstructionist, extreme right-wing wing views of Gov. Paul LePage, who has done everything he can to put this state back into the 19th century.
Anything that has been accomplished has been done by the Democrats in the Legislature. One just has to look at the record to see how often Volk has voted to sustain the governor’s vetoes. This is why I am voting for Democrat Jean-Mari Caterina for the state Senate in the fall.
