As a resident of Brunswick, I am writing to express my strong support for Scott Thomas for state Senate in District 10 (Brunswick, Freeport, Harpswell and Pownal).

Scott understands that the shell game in Augusta with our tax dollars must stop. Over the past years Augusta has paid lip service to the constitutional requirement to balance the budget, while moving funds around to hide the shortfall. Now we face a huge deficit (some say approaching $1 billion).

The recently released “Reinventing Maine” report claims we can save over $1 billion dollars simply by reducing Maine’s spending to the same comparative levels as other similar states.

We desperately need people like Scott, who have the courage to cut spending and remove barriers to business expansion in Maine. That will bring in the jobs we need, and will also increase tax revenue to the state, through income taxes, sales taxes, and more, to help us balance the budget, while still caring for our most vulnerable citizens – without raising taxes.
