I would like to extend sincere thanks to all the volunteers who have been helping with the Cumberland Congregational Church’s wood bank heating assistance effort the past several months. Last Spring, the church acquired a quantity of tree-length hardwood logs from a local tree company. Recently, other local neighbors have offered to donate their recently cut trees or firewood, as well. The Godsoe family has generously allowed us to use their land as a staging area to process the logs into stove length and split firewood for delivery to local families in need. Some of the wood is also being sold and the money will be used for heating assistance for those who can’t burn wood.
Last Saturday we had a terrific crew of volunteers from the community help cut, split, and deliver some of the wood. We have more to do and will be scheduling additional days this Fall. If anyone would like to contribute wood, money for heating assistance, or help with cutting, splitting, or delivering, please contact the Cumberland Congregational Church office at 829-3419 or Bruce Wildes at 829-6222.
