On behalf of Yarmouth-area veterans I would like to thank the many generous citizens who donated to our turkey drive on Nov. 15. Although we had a lower number of frozen turkeys than usual (24), probably because some of the supermarket turkey sales hadn’t started yet, we had a tremendous year collecting $805 for the Yarmouth Food Pantry, the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Food Pantry and the Wayside Food Program in Portland. Special thanks to Hannaford in Yarmouth and the Royal River VFW Post 10529 for their generous gifts to get us started.
Many area veterans helped us, and you surely guaranteed a happy Thanksgiving for 30-40 families.
