On behalf of South Portland Project Graduation, I did want to thank the community for helping to make the Project Graduation Cocoa Sale fundraising event at the Mill Creek tree lighting a huge success. Noyes, Hall & Allen graciously allowed us space in their parking lot and access to their kitchen; Pleasant Hill Auto provided a nice, mobile vending space for us to use; Tim Horton’s Mill Creek gave us lots of hot cocoa to sell and The Cookie Jar Bakery provided hundreds of brightly decorated Christmas tree cookies to sell, too.

Project Graduation had a much-needed net profit on the event, and we would like to also extend our sincere gratitude to Jennifer Major of the South Portland High School faculty. She is the staff adviser to Project Graduation, she is present at every event, rolling up her sleeves to ensure a smooth and positive outcome. The city of South Portland is blessed indeed to have a generous community, and a very caring staff at the high school.

I encourage parents of students in every grade level in the city’s schools to get involved in the groups that benefit our students at every level. The passing-of-the-torch for booster or group leadership is made that much easier with across-the-board representation. It only takes a few hours of your time each month, and the end result is always well worth the effort.
