As the summer draws to a close, I wish to thank all of those people who have kept the flags flying on Bailey Island. As I travel from one end of Bailey Island to the other, I am constantly reminded not only of the sacrifice of our forefathers, but of the present-day generosity of those residents who contribute towards keeping the flags on our island flying. Their contribution of time, energy and resources should not only be a source of inspiration to us all, but a source of local pride. A group of local citizens, organized for a cause, and getting the job done.

America, may you remain a nation of thinkers, believers and doers. God bless America.
