The residents of Falmouth have many reasons to be proud of our Police Department. One of those was expressed by President Obama this week when he was interviewed by David Muir of ABC: many police officers from all over our country are meeting regularly with elementary students, chatting with them, answering questions, letting the students know that a policeman is their friend, their protector.

Lt. John Kilbride from our Police Department has been doing this for several years. He tries to have lunch with them every month during the school year. I have not had children attend the Falmouth schools, but when I learned of this, confirmed by hearing Lt. Kilbride speak to the residents of OceanView, I immediately responded. Donations are accepted for this service, although, of course, they are not tax deductible, meaning all donations come from the heart – another little way of saying thank you to our officers in Falmouth.
