I got to know Stan Bennett while working together on the Falmouth Planning Board.

When the Tidewater Conservation Foundation collaborated with the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension to raise funds for a Learning Center on the Tidewater Farm conservation easement we convinced Stan to join the committee, which he never let me forget.

Stan amazed me with the amount of energy he put forth to advance the agricultural education vision for the public use of this easement.

The fact that Stan knew numerous Cumberland County residents and business people, along with his commitment to youth in agriculture, made him a natural to chair the fundraising effort for the Learning Center. Even when the economy proved to be a negative in our campaign, Stan pushed forward calling on friends and colleges to support the project.

My relatively short friendship with a man I had known for many years grew rapidly and is one I shall always remember.

I will miss the morning coffees and lively discussions with Stan.

Thank you Stan Bennett for being my friend.
