I settled in Falmouth in 2010. I relish the “small-town” feel and sense of community that Falmouth offers. I value the dichotomy between Falmouth’s Route 1 commercial corridor and the beautiful, bountiful expanse of western Falmouth. I appreciate Falmouth’s accessibility to Portland’s urban district. I am naturally concerned that current town leaders, senior town managers who do not live where they work and exploitative influencers envision a “denser” Falmouth, i.e., sprawling, unimaginative tract housing and other development that will destroy Falmouth’s charm and desirability. Yes, change is inevitable. But, an active electorate can inform that change. So I endorse Valentine Sheldon for Town Council. He will bring intelligence, character, moderation and sensitivity to our government. He will fight to save our Falmouth.
