For the last four years, Falmouth has been most fortunate to have Mary Nelson as its representative in the Maine House. I write to urge everyone to re-elect Mary.

I have known Mary Nelson for over 30 years, since the days we served together on the Falmouth Town Council. Mary is thoughtful, smart and always prepared. Unlike many, she is not dismissive of those who don’t see eye-to-eye with her on every issue. Instead, she listens and probes and finds common ground upon which bipartisan progress can be made. We need more people like that in Augusta.

Mary has been an effective advocate for us in many areas, including improvement of education at all levels, creation of jobs via innovative public-private partnerships, and preservation of Maine’s natural environment.

Few legislative districts in Maine can boast someone as uniquely qualified as Mary Nelson. We need to return Mary to the Maine House on Nov. 6.
