On behalf of the Friends of the Scarborough Library, I would like to thank the many members of the Scarborough community who helped make our annual book sale so successful this year. The success of this sale is due to the generosity of those who donate, as well as those who purchase.

Proceeds from the book sale enable us to fund the purchase of books for the library’s adult and children’s collections. We also hold programs that are free and open to the public. This spring, 120 children and parents enjoyed the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers’ production of “Everybody Loves Pirates.” We are now preparing to host writer and USM professor Reza Jalali, who will present a program about “new Mainers” on Oct. 3.

The Friends appreciate the generous help of our corporate sponsors. Scarborough Public Works generously allows us to sort books during the year at their building. SPW also delivers all our sorted books to the library just before the sale.

Thank you to all for supporting the library book sale. The Friends wish you happy reading and look forward to seeing you at next year’s sale.
