Falmouth is an unique place to live since it has both a coastal community and a lakefront community on Highland Lake. Residents and visitors are drawn to these areas because they have something in common: they enjoy the water and their beautiful views. You should take notice because the Falmouth Town Council is considering the repeal of a town ordinance that states “the proposed use will not have a significant adverse impact on water views from adjacent and nearby properties and public right of way.” This ordinance has been in force for a short five years and suddenly the Town Council is considering the repeal of this ordinance.

What message is the Town Council sending to homeowners with water views? Our opinion is they don’t seem to care if you lose your water view when a “McMansion” is built that blocks your water view. The town puts a high value on these homes with water views, which is reflected in their property taxes. If you want to save your water views, please contact the Town Council and voice your concern before it is too late and the water views that you have enjoyed for a generation or more are gone.
