To all the drivers who observe posted speed limits, stay off their cell phones, and watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, I send a big thanks. I walk and bike around Brunswick almost every day and am grateful to you safe, courteous drivers.

To those of you who speed and talk on your cell phones – the young woman, older gentleman, and guy in the pickup truck who have come close to hitting me this summer in a pedestrian crosswalk and a bike lane – please obey our laws. Your refusal to put away your cell phones and slow down endangers everyone around you. Please don’t add to the recent tragic pedestrian fatalities in Harpswell and York. It’s up to you, and each one of us who drives, to keep everyone safe.
