I encourage North Yarmouth residents to attend the Monday, April 2, School Administrative District 51 Board of Directors meeting. There will be a public hearing on the proposed closure of the North Yarmouth Memorial School. The board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the library at Greely High School. I hope the board will be sensitive to the sentiment of North Yarmouth residents to keep a school presence in our town.

I feel if we lose our school we lose part of our identity, our largest employer and our great history of having a school in our town. I am also concerned that some of our resident’s home values may decrease as a result of losing our school.
