On Nov. 5, we have the opportunity to cast a ballot to invest in the future of our community by investing in our area schools.

An independent study, requested by the Regional School Unit 1 Board of Directors in an effort to embark on responsible long-term planning for the district, has identified that nearly every facility in the RSU is in need of critical repairs and improvements.

Not superfluous improvements, but repairs and improvements critical in keeping up with building codes, to prevent costly future repairs, to keep children safe, and to keep our facilities from closing before the funds are available for new facilities. Did you know that the high school that serves our community is at risk of losing its accreditation because of the unacceptable condition of the school?

I urge you join me in voting yes in support of the $5.2 million bond referendum. It’s an investment in our community.
