My son, William Nelligan, and I were volunteers at Iris Network for several years when William was attending nearby King Middle School. Providing the visually impaired with alternative ways of staying in tune with current events, via our morning “radio hour” was both gratifying and a privilege.

In addition to offering a social connection to those whose lives are often interrupted by vision loss, my son and I were witness to an organization which was exemplary in all regards: the staff was professional, the programs were specialized and meaningful, and the consistency of volunteers and daily programs demonstrated that Iris Network is the best provider of these services. It was with a heavy heart that we read about the recent changes awarding services to Catholic Charities rather than Iris Network.

We hope this decision is reversible.
