As a constituent of state Rep. Mike Timmons, R-Cumberland, I was extremely disappointed when he was one of six representatives who changed their votes under pressure from Gov. Paul LePage to block the Land For Maine’s Future bonds. He supported the political whims of the the governor over the will of the people of Maine and his constituents, undermining valuable conservation projects important to his district.

Now he has been given another opportunity to show he is an independent actor representing his constituents. LePage’s disgusting remarks about people of color being “the enemy,” and his unhinged, profane threats to a sitting legislator are so far beyond the bounds of acceptable behavior that he deserves a loud, public rebuke from every elected representative. Timmons has thus far remained silent. Who is he working for, the people of Gray and Cumberland, or LePage?
