Because I serve our town and the Falmouth Memorial Library as a member of the board of trustees, I want to thank the Town Council for the opportunity to ask Falmouth citizens to vote on the referendum that will provide needed space for the library. A look at the monthly calendar will show you the breadth and depth of library programming, from baby sing-along and preschool story time to adult book group on Maine poetry, many of which are offered multiple dates to meet the varied needs of our users. Our library staff needs support to create a new and beautiful location for the library that we all love.

The board is made up of 12 individuals who come from different backgrounds with different types of jobs and different perspectives, but who come together each month to reach consensus about the work and services of our library. We have spent a year of study and deliberation to reach the decision to work with the Town Council to move to the Lunt school as we further the mission of the library to enrich the community by providing resources and services that foster a love of reading and inspire imagination, curiosity, and an open exchange of ideas and information.

The referendum gives us the opportunity to tell our story. We invite residents to visit our library and ask for a tour from one of our wonderful librarians or trustees and to support this wise investment in our library.
