I am writing to support state Rep. Karen Vachon, R-Scarborough, for re-election in House District 29. As a health-insurance professional, Karen brings a unique and important perspective in her role as a member of the Health and Human Services Committee. In her first term, she achieved a 100 percent attendance and voting record, and was also successful in sponsoring or co-sponsoring legislation that has actually passed.
She understands the small-business community and respects the important role of the private sector in creating jobs. She also has passion and respect for those on welfare and the need for reform to help people get back on their feet with meaningful work opportunities. With the emerging need for health-care reform, we need someone in Augusta with an appreciation and respect for collaborative efforts to bring about realistic solutions. I urge the people in House District 29 in Scarborough to cast their vote for Rep Karen Vachon.
