Please join me in supporting state Sen. Cathy Breen, D-Falmouth, for re-election. As a retired teacher I especially value Breen’s efforts on behalf of students, teachers and schools. As a senator she has worked hard to increase financial resources for public education without increasing income tax. She voted to repeal the burdensome state mandate for proficiency-based diplomas, thus restoring local control and allowing teachers to teach in the way that will best benefit their students. Breen has also supported bond issues to improve facilities at the UMaine and community college systems. She has earned the endorsement of the Maine Education Association.

Additionally, in a time when rabid partisanship has often poisoned politics, Cathy remains committed to bipartisanship and has practiced a politics based on genuine respect for everyone she represents and with whom she works. Senate District 25 has been fortunate to be represented by her and she deserves your vote this November.
