I am writing in response to the article on train whistles at crossings. I have lived beside the tracks on Route 9 for 54 years, raised four kids and none of us have ever been bothered by them. Why did those complaining build near railroad tracks, knowing that whistles blow at crossings? Furthermore, not blowing at the crossings is dangerous even if gates are down. I have witnessed people going around the gates.
