Portland has become a popular destination for living, dining and entertainment. There continues to be strong and continued interest in new housing projects, new businesses and tourism. Question 2 enables a minority of city residents to petition against zoning changes, which are required for most new development projects. If 25 percent of registered voters who live within 500 feet of a proposed change sign a petition in opposition, they would be able to block the change and the project. This process wouldn’t require public notice and could be circulated without nearby neighbors or anyone else even knowing about it. The passage of Question 2 would be a loss for our city and would freeze future investments in housing, business and infrastructure.

Look at the bigger picture and allow projects a fair and public process. Please vote no on Question 2.
