I’m writing to encourage Falmouth voters to elect Eydie Pryzant to our School Board. I say “our” board, because it’s thanks largely to Eydie’s leadership, hard work and staying power that the Falmouth School Department remains an independent district.

When school consolidation became law, Eydie asked logical and skeptical questions that led her and many others to realize there would be no savings for Falmouth taxpayers. In fact, we’d pay more, lose autonomy and gain very little in efficiencies.

Eydie does her homework, so she always has a well-reasoned and researched argument – but she’s not argumentative. Her civil, cool-headed approach is just what we need right now. When I served on the board (1998-2004) we had challenges, but nothing like what we face now. I admire anyone who chooses to run and sign up for this responsibility, and frankly, grief. If Eydie Pryzant gets in, we can all consider ourselves lucky.
