The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has voted to eliminate funding for Title X and to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood health centers. Both these programs provide critical preventive medical care to millions of women, including women in Maine. Don’t they care? What are they thinking with so many women without medical insurance or money to pay for family planning services or other female related medical problems? These important medical services have been federally funded for 40 years. Women deserve fairer treatment from their elected representatives. I urge Sen. Collins and Sen. Snowe to vote to overturn these cuts and to take action to protect the health of women.
