Portland International Jetport could be more sustainable (“Portland International Jetport plans for a sustainable future”) if it could get its lighting under control.
In the new section of PWM there are wall washers that are shining out the window, apparently trying to compete with the sun. In the old section excessive lighting is routine, even though the waiting room is flooded with natural light. Also, for years, former airport directors have sworn they would never use solar panels, which could reduce the enormous amount of carbon dioxide generated by airport activity.
